Di scena dal 25 agosto al 16 settembre, la Vuelta a Espana 2018 costituisce l’ultimo Grand Tour della stagione. Chi gareggerà sulle strade iberiche nel corso delle tre settimane? Ecco la startlist.
Molto accesa la lotta per la conquista della maglia rossa. Tra reduci dal Tour, chi ha preparato più nel dettaglio l’appuntamento oppure chi gareggerà con un occhio rivolto al Mondiale, questi i nomi di spicco: Nairo Quintana e Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Richie Porte (Bmc), Rigoberto Uran (EF Drapac), Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha-Alpecin), Daniel Martin (UAE), Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo), Adam e Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ), Jakub Fuglsang e Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana), Rafal Majka ed Emmanuel Buchmann (Bora-Hansgrohe), Wilco Keldermann (Sunweb), Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), David De La Cruz (Team Sky), Michael Woods (EF Drapac).
Presenti anche i maggiori rappresentanti del movimento italiano: oltre a Davide Formolo (Bora-Hansgrohe) che punta ad una nuova top ten, ci sono Fabio Aru (UAE), che ha tutta l’intenzione di puntare diretto al podio, e Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida), che dopo l’infortunio al Tour correrà in Spagna con il principale scopo di preparare l’appuntamento iridato. La Vuelta, si sa, non è corsa per velocisti. Sono pochi, dunque, gli sprinter al via della gara: tra questi, però, spiccano il campione italiano Elia Viviani (Quick Step Floors), il campione europeo Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton – Scott) ed il campione mondiale Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe). Ed infine corridori da tracciati intermedi, come Tony Gallopin (Ag2R La Mondiale), Omar Fraile (Astana), Tiesj Benoot (Lotto Soudal), Fabio Felline (Trek-Segafredo). Rientra tra questi anche un atleta che nel recente passato ha dimostrato di poter tenere duro anche nell’arco delle tre settimane: facciamo riferimento a Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky), protagonista di un grande Tour da poco concluso nelle vesti di gregario.
