È ormai alle porte la Parigi-Nizza 2016, prova WorldTour in programma dal 6 al 13 marzo. Nata nel 1933 dalla mente di Albert Lejeune, direttore del quotidiano Le Petit Niçois, la Corsa verso il Sole passò dal 2002 nelle mani di Aso. Di Sean Kelly il record di vittorie (7), di Richie Porte l’ultimo successo, dodici mesi fa. Tre gli italiani giunti primi: Fermo Camellini nel 1946, Dario Frigo nel 2001 e Davide Rebellin nel 2008. Nonostante la fortissima concorrenza della concomitante Tirreno-Adriatico, non mancano le stelle che scelgono di correre sul suolo francese. E sarà così anche quest’anno. Dopo aver analizzato il percorso, vediamo dunque quali saranno i corridori più attesi.
Nuova maglia, ma stesse motivazioni di dodici mesi fa per il campione uscente Richie Porte: l’australiano della BMC è stato il mattatore delle brevi corse a tappe dell’ultima stagione e spera di potersi ripetere ancora, augurandosi di far meglio, magari, nei grandi giri. Ma è senz’altro Alberto Contador l’uomo più atteso della Paris Nice 2016. Il madrileno della Tinkoff non corre mai per arrivare secondo – del resto ha già esultato quest’anno in Algarve – ha lo spettacolo nel suo Dna e punta al tris in Francia, dopo le affermazioni del 2007 e del 2010.
Chi potrebbe impensierire i due sopra citati? Certamente i due maggiori corridori di casa Romain Bardet (Ag2R La Mondiale) e Pierre Rolland (Cannondale), con una motivazione maggiore davanti al proprio pubblico. Il terzo scalatore transalpino, Thibaut Pinot, ha scelto invece la Tirreno. E poi lo statunitense Andrew Talansky (Cannondale), la coppia Lampre-Merida formata dal portoghese Alberto Rui Costa e dal sudafricano Louis Meintjes, gli olandesi Wilco Keldermann e Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo), Geraint Thomas del Team Sky, che di questo periodo, un anno fa, cominciava la sua straordinaria annata protrattasi fino al Tour de France. Un azzurro potrebbe inserirsi nella lista è Diego Rosa (Astana) il quale, in virtù dell’assenza dei due capitani Nibali ed Aru, avrà il via libera dalla sua squadra.
Certamente più nutrita è la componente veloce: scorrendo la startlist troviamo i nomi di Alexander Kristoff (Katusha), Marcel Kittel (Etixx-QuickStep), Andre Greipel (Lotto Soudal), Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) e Michael Matthews (Orica-GreenEDGE). A questi si aggiungono, in seconda linea, gli insidiosi Arnaud Démare (FDJ), Jonathan Swift (Team Sky), Matti Breschel (Cannondale), Juan Jose Lobato (Movistar) e gli italiani Niccolò Bonifazio (Trek-Segafredo), chiamato ad affinare la gamba in vista dell’obiettivo Sanremo, e Davide Cimolai (Lampre-Merida), quest’ultimo vincitore di una bella volata nel 2015.
E infine i jolly, corridori da percorsi misti che ben potrebbero figurare nel corso della settimana. Certamente rientra tra costoro Philippe Gilbert (BMC), accanto al quale vanno aggiunti Alexis Vuillermoz (Ag2R La Mondiale), Julien Simon (Cofidis), Sylvain Chavanel e Thomas Voeckler (Direct Energie), Tom Boonen e il recente vincitore di Le Samyn Niki Terpstra (Etixx-QuickStep), Simon Spilak (Katusha), Sep Vanmarcke (LottoN-Jumbo), Nicholas Roche (Team Sky) e l’italiano Fabio Felline (Trek-Segafredo).
