Il Lombardia 2017: la startlist e i favoriti

È il momento dell’ultima Classica-monumento della stagione, è Il Lombardia 2017, di scena sabato 7 ottobre. La Classica delle foglie morte arriva all’edizione numero 111: è passato oltre un secolo da quel 1905 in cui Giovanni Gerbi vinse la prima edizione della corsa ideata dal giornalista Tullo Morgagni.

Poi ne abbiamo viste tante, da allora: dalle cinque vittorie di Fausto Coppi alle quattro di Alfredo Binda, fino alle tre di Henri Pellissier, Costante Girardengo, Gaetano Belloni, Gino Bartali, Sean Kelly e Damiano Cunego. Straordinario lo spettacolo a cui abbiamo assistito nel 2015, in cui un Vincenzo Nibali da applausi andò a prendersi il meritatissimo successo in maglia tricolore. Nel 2016, invece, ecco il primo trionfo colombiano firmato da Esteban Chaves.

Cosa accadrà a Il Lombardia 2017? Il percorso disegnato da RCS Sport è come al solito molto impegnativo: da Bergamo a Como per 247 km e oltre 4000 metri di dislivello, costituiti, tra l’altro, dalle salite di Colle Gallo, Colle Brianza, Madonna del Ghisallo, Colma di Sormano, Civiglio e San Fermo della Battaglia.

Venticinque le squadre partecipanti: alle diciotto WorldTeams ammesse di diritto sono affiancate le sette Professional invitate, vale a dire le italiane Androni-Sidermec, Bardiani-Csf, Nippo-Vini Fantini e Wilier-Selle Italia; le francesi Cofidis e Direct Energie; la russa Gazprom-RusVelo.

La lista partenti è semplicemente stellare: nonostante il forfait del campione in carica Esteban Chaves (Orica – Scott), reduce da un infortunio alla spalla rimediato al Giro dell’Emilia, sono presenti i vincitori delle edizioni 2015 e 2014, Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain – Merida) e Daniel Martin (Quick – Step Floors). Proprio lo Squalo appare come il principale favorito, dal momento che già nelle ultime prove di fine stagione ha dimostrato di godere di un’ottima condizione fisica.

Con loro, il il secondo classificato al Tour de France, nonché vincitore della Milano-Torino Rigoberto Uran; il secondo classificato del Giro d’Italia Nairo Quintana (Movistar); Warren Barguil (Sunweb), vincitore della maglia a pois del Tour de France; Mikel Landa e Diego Rosa, secondo l’anno scorso sul traguardo di Bergamo (Team Sky); Fabio Aru e Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana); Adam Yates (Orica – Scott), Ilnur Zakarin (Team Katusha Alpecin), Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) e i portacolori della Quick – Step Floors Julian Alaphilippe e Philippe Gilbert (Quick – Step Floors), quest’ultimo vincitore delle edizioni 2009 e 2010.

E poi ancora Domenico Pozzovivo (Ag2R La Mondiale), Egan Bernal all’ultima apparizione con la maglia della Androni-Sidermec; Nicolas Roche (Bmc), Rafal Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe), Omar Fraile (Dimension Data), Lilian Calmejane (Direct Energie), Tony Gallopin e Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal), Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo), Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), Alberto Rui Costa (UAE Team Emirates).
