Anteprima Clasica San Sebastian 2018

È il momento della più importante classica spagnola: è la Clasica San Sebastian, la cui 38^ edizione si disputerà sabato 4 agosto. Nata nel 1981, la Klasikoa ha sorriso tante volte ai colori italiani (dal successo di Gianni Bugno del 1991 fino a quello di Leonardo Bertagnolli del 2007), ma da un decennio esatto nessun nostro portacolori è più riuscito ad alzare le braccia al cielo. Polacco l’ultimo vincitore, Michal Kwiatkowski.

 Diretta tv dalle 15 su Rai Sport e dalle 16 su Eurosport.

 Misura 229 km l’edizione 2018 della Klasikoa; 229 km caratterizzati, come di consueto, dalle tipiche cotes basche che rimarranno sulle gambe di molti. Sono ben otto i Gran Premi della Montagna proposti, per un tracciato disegnato per corridori scattisti-scalatori dotati di spunto veloce. Si comincia dal Meaga (3,7 km al 3,4%) dopo 27 km di corsa, al quale seguono Iturburu (7 km al 5,00%), Alkiza (4.4 km al 6,52%) e il primo dei due passaggi sulla salita simbolo, l’Alto de Jaizkibel (7.8 km al 5.8%).

Poi, nella seconda parte del tracciato, ecco in rapida successione Alto de Arkale (3.2 km al 5.5%), secondo passaggio sullo Jaizkibel e secondo sull’Arkale. Dallo scollinamento su quest’ultimo colle mancheranno 30 km all’arrivo, caratterizzati da un’ultima insidia: si tratta del Murgil Tontorra, 1.8 km all’11.3%, ma con punte che arrivano al 22%. Nonostante la brevità, quest’ultima ascesa, posta a soli 8 km all’arrivo, con le sue pendenze arcigne si presenta come terreno adatto per chi vorrà fare selezione.  A comporre la startlist della corsa, accanto alle 18 WorldTour ammesse di diritto, saranno le 4 Professional Euskadi Basque – Country Murias, Caja Rural-RGA, Burgos BH e Cofidis. Assente il campione uscente Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky), il numero uno passerà sulle spalle del grandissimo talento Egan Bernal. Sono tanti i corridori in grado di poter lottare per la vittoria: tra questi, la maglia a pois dell’ultimo Tour Julian Alaphilippe (Quick Step), gli ex vincitori Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) e Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal), Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana), i fratelli Ion e Gorza Izaguirre (Bahrain-Merida). Le speranze italiane sono principalmente affidate a Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates).
