Anteprima Milano – Torino 2018

È la più antica Classica presente nel calendario internazionale, ma conserva intatto il fascino giovanile: è la Milano-Torino, la cui edizione 2018, la numero 99, organizzata da Rcs Sport e ultima prova della Ciclismo Cup, si disputerà mercoledì 10 ottobre.

Era il lontano 1876 quando otto uomini, su vetuste biciclette, si sfidarono su un tratto di strada (ammesso che sia consentito chiamarla tale) che collegava le due capitali industriali del nord Italia. Da allora è passato un secolo e mezzo fatto di imprese leggendarie: da Costante Girardengo (primo per cinque volte) ai vari Fiorenzo Magni, Giuseppe Saronni, Francesco Moser e Alberto Contador, quanti campioni hanno scritto il proprio nome nell’albo d’oro!

Nel 2015 vinse un piemontese doc, Diego Rosa, mentre nel 2016 fu la volta del colombiano Miguel Angel Lopez. Colombiano anche il campione uscente, vale a dire Rigoberto Uran.

 Lo start ufficiale della gara, lunga 200 km, avverrà da Magenta, all’interno della città metropolitana di Milano. Da qui si attraversa la pianura padana (oltrepassando Vigevano e la Lomellina) fino ad arrivare a Casale Monferrato.

Da questo momento comincia la seconda parte del percorso (inaugurata dai primi saliscendi), decisamente la più impegnativa. Dopo San Mauro Torinese si costeggia il Po e si sale per la prima volta sul colle della Basilica di Superga, ascesa simbolo della corsa. Sono 4.9 km al 9.1% di pendenza media, con punte massime che raggiungono il 14%. Scesi su Rivodora (discesa tecnica), si ritorna a San Mauro e si risale per la seconda volta verso Superga: la cima coinciderà col traguardo.

Grandi nomi al via della Mi-To, come accade oramai ogni anno: sono presenti, tra gli altri, Gianni Moscon (Sky), il nuovo Campione del Mondo a Cronometro Rohan Dennis (Bmc), affiancato da Alessandro De Marchi fresco vincitore al Giro dell’Emilia, Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ), Julian Alaphilippe (Quick Step Floors), Mikel Landa (Movistar), Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), il secondo classificato della Vuelta a España Enric Mas (Quick Step Floors), Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal), Rafal Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe), Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), Alberto Rui Costa e Daniel Martin (UAE Team Emirates), Domenico Pozzovivo (Bahrain-Merida), Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha-Alpecin) e Davide Ballerini (Androni-Sidermec), recente vincitore al Matteotti e al Pantani.
